What is the 4-week Live Online Course?
At the heart of the Center’s offerings is a one-month virtual curriculum designed to deepen your understanding of ceramics from multiple perspectives. Led by internationally renowned experts, our program provides a structured yet dynamic approach to learning, covering building techniques, surface design, and insights into the art business.
Rather than a single viewpoint, our courses offer a multifaceted exploration of the creative process, allowing you to engage with different approaches, methods, and philosophies. Through live, interactive sessions, you'll develop your creative routines while exchanging ideas with teachers and peers from around the world. Our curated classes and diverse community create a rich, immersive learning experience—one that encourages collaboration, innovation, and growth in your artistic practice.
SUMMER 4-WEEK LIVE ONLINE INTENSIVE:
JUNE 2025
This 4-week immersion is designed to transform and connect you to a diverse community of ceramic sculptors. Designed for all levels, the program offers the flexibility of a live virtual format while providing the accountability, activation, and camaraderie of live, collaborative group work.
With 8 esteemed leaders in the arts, you will embark on a guided exploration of various building techniques and surface finishes, and gain valuable insights into the business of figurative ceramic art.
Upon completing the program you will receive a Center For the Study Of Figurative Ceramics Certification. You can learn more about this here. There will be three tiers of accreditation. Building upon last year’s offerings, students who have completed the level I/II courses will be provided additional work requirements and support in obtaining their level II/III certifications.
Classes will take place from June 3 to June 28, 2025. One-on-one coaching, and support will continue through July.
The 1-month intensive includes bi-weekly live virtual meetings that focus on a variety of approaches to help you advance your sculptural practice. All lectures are recorded and will be available on the course platform under the relevant topic in our classroom, so you can watch them at your convenience.
By the end of the course, you will have a deeper understanding of key ceramic techniques and pieces that reflects the growth and evolution of your unique artistic voice.

The Art of Hollow Construction
(Three-day workshop)
In this class, we will create a seated full figure using slab construction. Students will receive guided references to build their sculpture at one of two scales, based on their skill level and firing capacity.
The course also includes a follow-up with pre-recorded materials covering drying, loading, firing, and a step-by-step tutorial on the glazing process.

Join us for a rare opportunity to step inside the Montana studio of renowned sculptor Beth Cavener. In this special session, Beth will share insights into her creative process, discuss her unique approach to sculpture, and give us a front-row seat to a live demonstration of her techniques.
HOW WILL THIS WORK?
Throughout this month-long journey, you will engage in live sessions twice a week, led by founder and instructor Cristina Córdova, in collaboration with our ceramic masters. You will immerse yourself in demonstrations, lectures, and constructive group critiques. These interactive gatherings will be complemented by pre-recorded materials and written resources, providing flexibility for you to tailor the experience to your own rhythm.
The only technological requirements are an internet connection, a computer, phone, or tablet, and Zoom. Once enrolled you will receive instructions for a full tech check to ensure everything is set up for an optimal experience.
To further support your creative journey, you will receive individual coaching from a licensed creative coach, accompanied by ongoing one-on -one feedback and mentorship as you continue to develop your final project independently.
Together, we will culminate our shared experience with a virtual group show and tell, where you will have the opportunity to showcase your work and celebrate our collective artistic evolution.
All sessions will be recorded and will be available in your course platform as long as the Center for the Study of Figurative Ceramics exist, ensuring that you can revisit the content at your convenience and keep it as a lasting resource for continued inspiration and growth.
